Photography Podcast

You won't see me in front of a camera often, but I was honored to be invited on the Happy Snappin podcast (by James Warner) and really enjoyed talking about vintage digital cameras as well as a bit of infrared and other photo related stuff...

My Happy Place

Most of my day is spent at this desk. Being forced to also accommodate the ugly work PC here, cable management was a challenge, but I'm pretty happy with it now. Click the pic for more info on the mini PC with a custom 3D printed fan shroud that allows two 140mm Noctua fans to cool a 3080Ti GPU inside a sub-13 litre case...

Photo Scanning

Lately I have been getting in to photogrammetry (making 3D models via batches of photographs). Making mostly tree trunks, with the idea of finishing the upper branches and foliage in SpeedTree, for use in real-time game engines.

Experimental Photography

I enjoy many other multi-image photographic stitching techniques, like stacking, HDR and panoramas, but "Bokeh Panoramas" have long been one of my favorite techniques. I made a Facebook group for the technique here, if you're curious, feel free to join...

Dial Design

I once tried to design a camera because I thought I had a good idea for how physical dials could work in a more tactile and readable way, whilst being faster to switch between various levels of automation and limitation. I have a few more ideas how this could be improved. I need to follow this up with a new model and texture it properly this time.

Squirrel Photography

Did you know that if you squirrels are great for holding a pose? Yeah, good luck with that :P. I have been rather obsessed with photographing Eurasian Red squirrels since the pandemic. I now have so much content that I gave them their own tab.

Light & Budget Super Cameras

I recently decided to see how much subject isolation I could get out of a small, light and reasonably priced camera (& lens). I knew this could be interesting, but even I was blown away by what you can get for 700g and €500...

CCD vs CMOS

I had owned CCD cameras years ago and not noticed any downsides with CMOS camera in the years since. Any conversations about CCD images looking nicer I had long since dismissed as fanboyism, but I had to rethink this after photographing squirrels in the forest with a Nikon D1. It was time for me to do some more scientific testing...

Future Projects

Making racing games & designing racing routes in 3D, through city streets has developed an interested for infrastructure and city design. The more I look into ideal urban design, public transport, responsible social spending, eliminating polution, sustainable happier shared spaces, green energy etc. the more I want to design my own cities from scratcgh. I am planning to design mini dioramas in realtime 3D engines like Unreal 5 to show how this could work.
